During the Ottoman Empire there was a famous base of pirates and at that time Alania was called Korakesion. Later Mark Antony gave this nice town and near-by territories to Cleopatra who, according to legend, bathed in that place which is called Cleopatra beach.
Alania is a very popular and not very expensive resort of Turkey. If you don’t want to spend a lot of money on your holiday – welcome! Alania is situated on the seacoast of the Mediterranean Sea and is the most south and west sea resort of Turkey. It is surrounded by orange and lemon gardens, which are grown on the big rocky cape. It is unusual but the symbol of Alania are not oranges or bananas but pumpkins. In August there is an international folk festival, where all the participants from all the towns of the country meet & give an additional flavor to the town.
Depending on a district the beaches are covered by soft sand or pebbles. Stone beach is impossible to find there. In some places there are some problems with the entering the sea – big stones occur. But usually there are piers near such places. If you aren’t lazy go to district Injekum. It will be amazing to swim in the sea and to walk along clean sand.
In evening all the roads go to the center. On the seafront there is a jetty with yachts which you can rent for a trip. There are a lot of benches for a calm rest and enjoyment of view of sea and sunset. For an active rest in the center there is a street with bars and restaurants. If in the morning the town is sleepy then beginning from 8 o’clock is looks like alarmed hive. The barkers make more active. Live and electro music of different styles is heard from every street and opened doors. After 10 o’clock the bars are opened. Rhythms of r’n’b go down the town.
